The near constant rain we've been experiencing for the past couple of weeks has had at least one positive side effect--after long months of waiting my precious is finally beginning to bloom! Well now! We had a nasty spat of days earlier this week in which the temperature crept over 90°, literally frying most of my daffodils and tulips--they turned crinkly and brown over the course of one afternoon :(--but the warm weather did prove to be beneficial to the later season plants. Alright, so the thing about pink daffodils is, they don't actually start out pink. Depending on the variety, when they initially open they can be yellow, pale orange, or white; and given the right conditions of light, temperature, etc., they gradually change color. It's magic! Or, um, chemistry. Something like that.
